Jo Baker – Longbourn

Chorleywood Memorial Hall Common Road Chorleywood WD3 5LN

This book was very well received by the critics when it was published in 2013 in hardback. It is a look at the poverty as well as the hard working lives of those ‘downstairs’ in Pride and Prejudice. How was Mr Darcy to those below stairs? Would Elizabeth Bennet have walked through quite so many muddy fields if she had been in charge of washing her own petticoats?
